機械工程學院與內(nèi)蒙古工業(yè)大學同誕生、共發(fā)展，至今已走過67個年頭。伴隨著學校的發(fā)展，機械工程學院也經(jīng)歷了由金工科、機械制造系、機械一系、機械工程系過渡到機械工程學院不同階段的成長歷程，標志著機械工程學院綜合實力的不斷提升和壯大。

67年薪火相傳，春華秋實。機械工程學院為社會培養(yǎng)了近二萬名畢業(yè)生，已成為自治區(qū)機械行業(yè)重要的人才培養(yǎng)基地。現(xiàn)有全日制各類在校生1900余人。機械工程學院專業(yè)設(shè)置符合社會發(fā)展需求，畢業(yè)生就業(yè)渠道廣，就業(yè)質(zhì)量好。

機械工程學院積極促進學科專業(yè)建設(shè)與發(fā)展，現(xiàn)有機械設(shè)計制造及其自動化、機械電子工程、測控技術(shù)與儀器、工業(yè)工程、工業(yè)設(shè)計五個本科專業(yè)。其中機械設(shè)計制造及其自動化專業(yè)被評為自治區(qū)品牌專業(yè)，測控技術(shù)與儀器被列為學校品牌專業(yè)建設(shè)項目。

機械工程學院現(xiàn)有機械工程碩士一級學科及其所屬的六個二級學科碩士學位授權(quán)點，其中“機械設(shè)計及理論”“機械制造及其自動化”為內(nèi)蒙古自治區(qū)重點學科；另有機械工程、儀器儀表工程兩個工程碩士專業(yè)學位授權(quán)點。機械工程學院現(xiàn)有教職工108人，其中教授14人，副教授33人；在職教師中，具有博士28人、碩士66人，入選自治區(qū)“新世紀321人才工程”20人。

機械工程學院高度重視教學質(zhì)量和人才培養(yǎng)水平，不斷改善辦學條件。建有先進制造實驗室、機械設(shè)計實驗室、機械CAD中心等12個實踐教學基地。機械基礎(chǔ)實驗教學中心被評為國家級實驗教學示范中心。有6門課程被評為自治區(qū)級精品課程。

依托機械工程學院優(yōu)勢成立內(nèi)蒙古先進制造實驗室、內(nèi)蒙古制造業(yè)信息化生產(chǎn)力促進中心、內(nèi)蒙古自治區(qū)制造業(yè)信息化培訓中心、內(nèi)蒙古自治區(qū)機械CAD研究中心等多個科研機構(gòu)，積極為社會提供技術(shù)和人才服務。機械工程學院省部級一等獎1項、二等獎4項、省部級三等獎13項。

The College of Mechanical Engineering, together with the Inner Mongolia University of Technology, has been established and developed gradually within the past sixty-seven years. With the development of this University, the college has evolved four phrases: the metalworking department, the mechanical manufacture department, the mechanical department-I and the mechanical engineering department, which havedemonstrated its improved comprehensive capability.

For the past 67 years of constant striving, this college has achieved great success and cultivated nearly 20,000 highly qualified professionals for the nation and society, as a base of training mechanical professionals in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. At present this college enrolls more than 1,900 full-time students. The specialties established in this college meet social development and provided job opportunities on a more extensive scale with excellent employment quality.

A great effort has been placed on the development of discipline and specialty, which have led to the development of five mechanical relevant specialties: Mechanical Design, Manufacture and Automation, Mechanical Electronic Engineering, Measurement and Control Technology and Instrument, Industrial Engineering and Industrial Design. Among the aforementioned specialties, the Mechanical Design, Manufacture and Automation is honored with the autonomous region level of brand specialty, and the Measurement and Control Technology and Instrument is ranked as the university level of brand specialty.

The college has first-class disciplines in Mechanical Engineering and 4 master degree programs of second-class disciplines. The Mechanical Design and Theory, as well as Mechanical Design, Manufacture and Automation are the key disciplines of autonomous region level. There are 2 master degree programs of engineering that is Mechanical Engineering and Instrument Science and Technology.There are 112 faculties including 14 professors, 33 associate professors in this college. Among the currentfaculties, 28 have received Ph. D, 66 have received M. D and 20 faculties are elected as “New Century 321 TalentProject for the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region”.

Major emphasis is placedon the teaching quality and talent cultivation of undergraduate and graduate students in order to improving education self-consciously ceaselessly. There are 12 practical teaching bases such as Advanced Manufacture Laboratory, Center for Mechanical CAD, Mechanical Design Laboratory which is awarded as Provincial Experimental Teaching Demonstration Centre, and Electromechanical Control Laboratory which is awarded as Provincial Key Laboratory. Moreover, there are6 courses elected as Provincial Essence Courses.

The College of Mechanical Engineering takes the most advantages of itsintellectual resources to offer technical service for the society by all means. Currently five main provincial research institutions have been established: Institute for Mechanical Design Laboratory,Hydraulic Technology, Productive Force Promotion Center for Manufacturing Informatization, and Training Center for Manufacturing Informatization and Center for Mechanical CAD.

A great effort is paid to the construction of qualified teacher teams, taking the task of enhancing their teaching and research capabilities with ideological and moral quality.The college has won 1 first prize and 4 second prize of provincial level, and 13 provincial and ministerial third prizes.
